What do You Love to Do?

After a very challenging day at work, I was sharing a bit of the days struggles with my family over dinner. Once I had finished, our 4-year-old daughter looked up at me and simply asked me, "Dad, what is it that you love to do?". I smiled at her, and looked at my partner in an attempt to acknowledge how sweet and in tune our daughter was. I took a deep breath and answered her, "I honestly just love helping people." She looked down at her plate to continue eating and very matter of factly said, "Well just do more of that."

This innocent conversation with my daughter reminded me of the importance of staying connected to our true desires and passions in life. As business leaders, we often get caught up in the day-to-day operations of running our businesses, putting out fires, and meeting deadlines. It can be easy to lose sight of what truly drives us and makes us happy.

When we're disconnected from our passions, it's easy to fall into the trap of feeling unfulfilled and dissatisfied with our work. This can lead to burnout, stress, and a general sense of unhappiness.

On the other hand, when we're connected to our true desires and passions, work can feel effortless and enjoyable. We feel fulfilled and satisfied in our work, and this positive energy can spill over into other areas of our lives as well.

So, how do we tune into our true desires and passions? It starts with taking the time to reflect on what really makes us happy. What activities bring us the most joy? What do we find ourselves daydreaming about?

It's important to take these desires seriously, even if they don't seem immediately related to our work or business. They can be a powerful guiding force that can help us create the success we desire.

For example, in my coaching business, I discovered that what I truly love is helping people. This has become the driving force behind everything I do. It's not just about teaching new systems and processes; it's about helping my clients achieve their goals and dreams.

By staying connected to this passion, I've been able to create a thriving coaching business that not only brings me happiness and fulfillment but also helps my clients achieve incredible success.

So, if you're feeling disconnected from your work or struggling to find fulfillment in your life, take some time to reflect on what truly makes you happy. Listen to that inner voice that's telling you what you're truly called to do. And then, as my daughter so wisely suggested, just do more of that.
